After a successful start to our program in Westerwald,Germany, we have been given the opportunity to expand into the city of Mainz, Rheinland-Pfalz. TC Gonsenheim will now be our new partner as we look to compete with some of the best programs in the area. The team at BT all agreed that although it seemed a bit early to expand, this was an opportunity thatno-one wanted to turn down and after hearing the plans and vision of the committee we knew it would be a great project.

The opening day will be on August 20th at 11am in TC Gonsenheim, and we will be beginning the program the following week,. This of course, means that there will be new editions to the coaching staff. One ofthose on our list the former Rheinland Mens Champion, and top coach Ivo Bozihlov from Bulgaria. During the last few years Ivo has been working with the federation in Bulgaria, helping with the Womens Fed Cup Team and completing his degree as a High Performance Tennis Coach.

Having an branch of BT operating in Mainz opens up whole new possibilities for everyone involved, and our first event will be organizing a challenge match between BT Westerwald and BT Mainz in the summer of next year. The most important thing is the exposure our players will receive and the opportunities they will come across will be numerous through having two centers, and for all our young players who are on the performance pathway, this truly is a step in the right direction.

Congratulations to the Base Tennis Men’s first team, who are top of the league and are looking good to take on of the two promotion places to gain promotion to the Verbandsliga. Next week we have a tough match against TC Betzdorf and should we win that match it looks very good for promotion.

Also a big shout out to the ladies 30′s Verbandliga team from TC Helferskirchen who are top of their league and can push for promotion if they win their next two matches. The men’s 30′s Oberliga team from TC Mittlewald had another good win this weekend and one more would see them keep their place in the top league.

Lastly the under 12 mixed team from TC RW Höhhr-Grenzhausen have gone undefeated the whole season so we will be pushing them in training to make sure they get over the final hurdle. We wish all of players good luck for the rest of the season and keep watching this space for more updates.
